In 2018, Amigos volunteers presented a new printer to enhance learning in the computer lab at Chocolá’s middle school. In July 2019, Amigos installed the “Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning” (RACHEL) system in the computer lab, enabling students to do research in school and print out materials for home study.
RACHEL combines freely available software and digital content to bring online educational materials into places with limited or no internet access. With limited resources at the school, this is a big step for student learning. Director Ayleen Karina Chavez has made great strides at the school with a little help from Amigos.
